Today’s Highlight: openRuyi Lands 221 Commits in a Single Day — Bulk Rust Crate Imports and Network/Storage Stack Upgrades

Date: 2026-10-19 Source: openRuyi commit list, DPDK 26.07 commit 8b290b9f, DPDK RISC-V lpm/fib backport 25e3fe4c, SPDK 26.09 commit c1951032, rust-regex 1.13.1 commit 39a87a09

The openRuyi main repository landed 221 commits on 10-19 (by committer time, 15:04 to 23:59 Beijing time), of which 211 are Rust-related: two batches of 99 commits each at 15:04 and 21:03 concentrated on crate packaging imports, with two commits at 20:49 and eleven at 23:59 as incremental additions. The remaining 10 commits focus on the network and storage stack and are the part of this batch most directly tied to runtime performance.

On the network and storage stack: dpdk was upgraded to 26.07, with the RISC-V lpm and fib lookup improvements backported to that version; spdk to 26.09; liburing to 2.15; iproute2 to 7.2.0; btrfs-progs to 7.1; and nvme-cli to 3.1. There are also two wrap-up changes: go-github-chewxy-math32 adds a patch fixing test failures on RISC-V, and go-gopkg-h2non-gock merges duplicate packages and bumps to 1.2.0. The distribution’s version baseline along the I/O path was advanced in one window to the autumn 2026 upstream level.

The Rust package surface is the main body of the day. The two batches of 99 commits cover cryptography (botan 0.10, twofish 0.7, x25519-dalek 2, pkcs1 0.7, secrecy 0.10), serialization (toml 0.6/0.18/0.19, toml-edit, toml-datetime, yaml-rust2), compression (brotli 7 and brotli-decompressor 4, alloc-stdlib, alloc-no-stdlib), regex (regex 1.13.1, regex-automata 0.4.18, regex-syntax 0.8.11), data structures (petgraph, tagptr, streaming-stats), and terminal text processing (widestring, term, strsim); 20:49 also added the RISC-V instruction decoding crate rust-riscv-decode 0.2 and the bare-metal halt crate rust-panic-halt 1. Most of these packages are indirect dependencies, indicating that packaging work has moved down from “well-known large packages” to the dependency closure layer.

Four new PRs were opened the same day: uwsgi (application server, +146 lines), minio de-vendoring (switching to distribution-packaged Go dependencies, introducing Prometheus and prom2json, 20 files +973/-43), picoclaw 0.3.1 switched to a non-vendored build (43 files +2095/-42, depending on the existing #1136), and a fix PR split out from the large CVE batch #1341 (28 files +251/-174). CVE batches #1341 and #1344 are still under review; the xsimd test fix #1328 was closed but not merged. Taken together with the day’s commits, openRuyi is systematically converting its “vendor with source” packaging approach to “package by dependency,” in line with mainstream distributions.

1. RuyiAI Stack Progress (PyTorch / Triton / TileLang RISC-V Adaptation)

1.1 pytorch: One Replay Push on the riscv Branch, Head Replaced with 44826095; Seven Open PR Baselines Refreshed in the Same Batch (10-19)

Date: 2026-10-19 Sources: riscv branch commit list, new head 44826095, two-head comparison, PR #51, PR list

During the window, the riscv branch underwent one replay push: at 10-19 09:14, refs/heads/riscv was updated from 8b254cfd to 44826095, with the head commit title still “Add riscv64 image locally (#51)” and a committer timestamp of 10-19 03:00. Counted by commit date, there were 0 new commits in the window—this was a history-rewriting replay, not a new patch. The two-head comparison shows diverged (43 ahead, 24 behind), with differences concentrated in local patch-stack files such as .ci/docker/build-riscv64-local.sh, .github/scripts/native_stack.py, and gitutils.py, indicating the local stack was re-based onto the upstream baseline.

No changes on the merge or review side: PR #51 (riscv64 local image) remains merged; the seven open PRs (#23 Enable XNNPACK, #35 for testing, #36 timeout relaxation, #38 temporary DataLoader disable, #43 patch trimming, #46 ATen RVV support, #48 RVV CPU capability) had their update timestamps refreshed in the same batch between 10-19 09:14 and 09:15, a baseline refresh caused by the replay, with no new review comments and no merges. Upstream sync on the main branch continues as usual (head b76ca616 at 10-20 02:21), not itemized per the filtering rules.

1.2 llvm-project: riscv Branch Silent for Seven Days Since 10-12, Two FPGA PRs Stalled (10-19 Status)

Date: 2026-10-19 (status) Sources: riscv branch commit list, PR list, PR #25 BOSCAME FPGA backend, PR #28 xboscame FPGA

The riscv branch head remains 0fb2da86 “[RISCV] Add A100 HP/SP and pack/unpack lowering with calibrated scheduling (#31)” (10-12 23:00 Beijing time), with no new pushes for seven consecutive days from 10-13 to 10-19; the overnight replay has not restarted since 10-12. The two FPGA backend PRs (#25 “BOSCAME FPGA backend”, #28 “xboscame FPGA”) last updated in the early hours of 10-13, with no review activity in the window. Daily upstream sync on the main branch continues as usual (a batch around 23:00 each day) and is outside the scope of this topic.

1.3 tilelang-riscv: No Commits for Three Consecutive Days After Five on 10-16 (10-19 Status)

Date: 2026-10-19 (status) Sources: commit list, PR #4 RVV mask and reduction

After completing five concentrated commits on 10-16 18:52 (codegen format conventions, upstream operator runtime semantics, TileOps runtime adaptation, Buddy MLIR release CI, building Python extensions in CI), tilelang-riscv has had no new commits for three consecutive days. Open PR #4 “Add RVV vector mask and max reduction lowering” has been stalled since 09-28, and PR #2 has been stalled since 06-16. The repo is currently in a lull: “CI and runtime skeleton working, operator coverage pending.”

1.4 triton-riscv: Nightly 2026-10-18-a305fb6 Released, First New Build Since 10-12 (10-19)

Date: 2026-10-19 Sources: Nightly 2026-10-18-a305fb6, Releases, PR #87, PR #88, PR #85 softmax and matmul optimization

triton-riscv released a nightly at 10-19 10:01, tagged nightly/20261018-a305fb6, corresponding to the main branch’s 10-18 dependency upgrade commit (Buddy MLIR nightly v0.1.1.dev20261017). The previous nightly was 20261011-fe554ff released on 10-12, a seven-day gap; this release means the build chain has resumed producing packages per upstream dependencies. There were no new commits on the main branch in the window; open PR #85 “softmax and matmul optimization” was updated at 10-19 07:55 and is still under review, the only active operator optimization proposal at present.

II. RuyiSDK Toolchain and Distributions

2.1 ruyi Package Manager: 0.53.0 Holds, Main Branch Has No Commits Since 09-25 (10-19 Status)

Date: 2026-10-19 (status) Sources: ruyi Releases, PyPI ruyi, Biweekly Report No. 078

Both the GitHub Release and PyPI remain at 0.53.0 (released 09-24), and the last commit on the main branch is dated 09-25 (merge of #503); there were no new releases or commits during the window. According to Biweekly Report No. 078 of 10-13, 0.54.0 has been scheduled for late October due to a release cycle adjustment. Items in development are ABI compatibility checks between software packages and the current system, macOS packaging for more officially maintained software packages, and SpacemiT K1/K3 toolchain adaptation. With roughly ten days left in the month, the key thing to watch is whether an alpha version ships first.

2.2 ruyisdk/llvm-project: AME Branch Merges CI Workflow, Builds RISC-V LLVM and Runs Targeted Tests (10-19)

Date: 2026-10-19 Sources: PR #170 Add AME CI, commit 397276ca, AME branch commit list

On the AME (A100 matrix extension) branch, the ruyisdk llvm-project fork merged PR #170 “Add AME CI” at 13:32 on 10-19, adding a 45-line .github/workflows/ruyi-riscv.yml: it builds LLVM with RISC-V support on the AME branch and runs targeted RISC-V compiler, code generation, assembly, and semantic tests. Previously, validation on this branch relied on manual work; this change brings regression testing into GitHub Actions and is a rare continuous change on the toolchain side. This was the branch’s only commit in the window, completed by the committer that same day.

2.3 openRuyi Main Repo: 221 Commits — Bulk Rust Crate Imports and Network/Storage Stack Upgrades (10-19)

Date: 2026-10-19 Sources: commit list, liburing 2.15 commit 961e6a7e, iproute2 7.2.0 commit 2ca98019, btrfs-progs 7.1 commit 15392421, rust-brotli commit 14c6ea1b, rust-botan commit 6de0e6e6

By committer time, the openRuyi main repo had 221 commits in the window, distributed as follows: 15:04 (99 commits), 15:25 (1), 15:26 (1), 20:49 (2), 21:03 (99), 21:06 to 21:16 (6), 22:32 (2), and 23:59 (11). By type, 211 were Rust-related and 10 non-Rust; by action, about 200 were new packages, 13 were version upgrades, 1 was a RISC-V backport, and 1 was a duplicate package merge.

The seven network and storage stack changes were the day’s most performance-relevant: dpdk 26.07 with RISC-V-oriented lpm and fib lookup improvements backported (two commits, 21:16), spdk 26.09 (21:16), liburing 2.15 (21:06), iproute2 7.2.0 and btrfs-progs 7.1 (21:07), plus nvme-cli 3.1 (15:25). Together with the go-github-chewxy-math32 RISC-V test fix (15:26), the distribution completed a coordinated version advance across packet filtering, asynchronous I/O, filesystems, and NVMe management.

The two bulk Rust import batches (99 commits each at 15:04 and 21:03) covered six categories: cryptography, serialization, compression, regex, data structures, and terminal handling. The 11 commits at 23:59 completed synchronized upgrades of regex 1.13.1 with regex-syntax 0.8.11 and regex-automata 0.4.18, plus brotli, botan, the alloc series, sequoia-man 0.3, self-replace 1, and winreg 0.52. The two commits at 20:49 deserve separate mention: rust-riscv-decode 0.2 is a RISC-V instruction decoding library, and rust-panic-halt 1 is a panic-halt implementation for bare-metal environments; both are directly useful for Rust tooling and firmware development on RISC-V. No new image was released that day; 2026.09 remains the latest version.

2.4 openRuyi PR Queue: uwsgi, picoclaw 0.3.1, minio De-vendoring, CVE Fix Split (10-19)

Date: 2026-10-19 Sources: PR #1458 uwsgi, PR #1459 minio de-vendoring, PR #1456 picoclaw 0.3.1, PR #1460 CVE fix split, PR #1136 picoclaw dependencies

Four PRs were opened on 10-19, focused on “de-vendoring” and “CVE cleanup”: minio replaces its bundled vendor archive with distribution-packaged Go dependencies and introduces dependency packages such as Prometheus and prom2json (20 files, +973/-43); picoclaw is upgraded to 0.3.1 and switched to a non-vendored build (43 files, +2095/-42), with #1136, open since 08-23, filling in its Go dependencies; uwsgi is a new application server package (3 files, +146); and #1460 splits independently reviewable parts out of the large CVE PR #1341 (28 files, +251/-174). The review queue also still has two CVE batches, #1341 and #1344, open; #1328 (xsimd test failure fix) was closed without merging.

2.5 Distributions and Images: openRuyi 2026.09 Still Latest, ruyi-imager Nightly Build Updated (10-19)

Date: 2026-10-19 Sources: openRuyi distribution news page, ruyi-imager nightly build, ruyisdk-website commit #597

The openRuyi distribution news page has no new articles; the 2026.09 release announcement remains the latest, and the 2026.10 page is not yet online. The ruyi-imager nightly build channel was updated at 04:33 on 10-19 (the main branch’s last commit was on 10-15); ruyisdk-website had two routine automated commits (api data and submodule sync, at 07:53 and 07:54 on 10-19), with no content changes.

2.6 Kernel and Firmware Lines: linux-xuantie-kernel, ruyifirmware, and edk2-ruyi All Quiet (10-19 Status)

Date: 2026-10-19 (status) Sources: linux-xuantie-kernel commit list, ruyifirmware Releases, edk2-ruyi commit list

The kernel line linux-xuantie-kernel (linux-6.6.36 branch) had no commits in the window; the last remains the 10-16 batch of profiling extension probes. On the firmware side, the latest ruyifirmware release is still “Ruyi Firmware 20261015” from 10-15, and edk2-ruyi’s last commit is the 10-15 K3 settings page and SMBIOS change. After intensive iteration from 10-15 to 10-16, all three lines went quiet in sync, in contrast with the distribution packaging peak in 2.3.

III. Vector Extensions and Operator Optimization (VecIntrinBench / IntrinTrans / FBGEMM)

3.1 All three repos quiet; no new progress on vector benchmarks or the translation toolchain (10-19 status)

Date: 2026-10-19 (status) Source: VecIntrinBench, IntrinTrans, FBGEMM fork

None of the three repos — the vector benchmark and the translation toolchain — saw any commits during the window; their latest activity remains at 02-13 (VecIntrinBench), 06-25 (IntrinTrans), and 07-13 (FBGEMM); harness is at 10-10, cpuinfo at 05-20, and torq-tile at 04-09. The only operator-side action in this window was the nightly build of triton-riscv (see 1.4); the vector benchmark side produced no new data.

3.2 Intelligence side: two proposals on kernel read-only mappings and syscall return values, plus C907/E907 boot path updates (10-19)

Date: 2026-10-19 Source: ruyiai-daily issue 10-19, PAGE_KERNEL_RO proposal, syscall return value proposal, SyterKit C907 commit, K3 PCIe patch v7

The RISC-V section of the tech intelligence repo’s 10-19 issue (pushed 10-19 06:16) records four items. First, a proposal on linux-riscv to define PAGE_KERNEL_RO, noting that when RISC-V lacks this definition it falls back to the writable PAGE_KERNEL, leaving mappings that should be read-only — such as HugeTLB vmemmap — with write permission; the proposal includes a reproduction on QEMU virt and a before/after page-table comparison. Second, the syscall restart path needs to check the full return value, fixing a return-value truncation issue. Third, SyterKit sets the mstatus vector state to initial in the C907 image so that the boot state matches the RVV code compiled into the image, while E907 sets up the system mapping before enabling caches. Fourth, the SpacemiT K3 PCIe patch v7 received new review comments questioning the use of the PHY bulk API to control all PHYs across multiple ports at once, pointing out that each port has its own PHY and PERST#, so the resource modeling needs to be re-justified.

IV. Buddy Compiler Updates (buddy-mlir Commits and Releases)

4.1 No Commits on Main Branch After 10-16; Nightly Builds Halted for Two Days After Official 0.1.1 Release (10-19 Status)

Date: 2026-10-19 (status) Source: buddy-mlir commit list, buddy-mlir Releases, BUDDY MLIR 0.1.1

The last commit on the buddy-mlir main branch remains #925 (publish-models workflow) at 09:35 on 10-16, with no new commits or releases during the window. Nightly builds stopped for two days after nightly/v0.1.1.dev20261017 on 10-17 and the official 0.1.1 release at 06:26 on 10-18 (no nightly output on either 10-18 or 10-19). The prior cadence was “an official release every two days, a nightly build every day”; this pause is the first gap since the 0.1.1 release. The key thing to watch is whether the nightly pipeline resumes on the next business day.

4.2 Pending PRs: Server-Side Interface Alignment, upsample_nearest Operator, BN Channel Broadcast Fix (10-19 Status)

Date: 2026-10-19 (status) Source: PR #994, PR #993, PR #992, PR #928

The pending PR queue saw no updates during the window, with the latest three all stalled between 10-17 and 10-18: #994 “Align buddy-server interface with llama-server” (10-18 02:41), #993 “Add tile.upsample_nearest operator and recognition pattern” (10-17 08:04), and #992 “Fix BN channel broadcast” (10-17 02:04). In addition, #928 “Measure PyTorch coverage and validate the 106-operator CPU tier” has been open since 09-16 and serves as the baseline proposal for operator coverage criteria.

V. Community, Events, and Official Homepage

5.1 Official homepage: three pages unchanged (2 blog posts, 23 doc chapters) (10-19 status)

Date: 2026-10-19 (status) Source: RuyiAI official homepage, blog page, docs page

The snapshots of the three official homepage pages are identical to the previous issue: the sha256 of index.html, blog.html, and docs.html are all unchanged, the blog index has 2 posts (“Triton’s RISC-V port” and “PyTorch RISC-V CI in practice”), and the docs index has 23 chapters. No new articles and no new chapters appeared during the window.

5.2 Forum: zero new posts, latest topic still the 10-15 daily news (10-19 status)

Date: 2026-10-19 (status) Source: RuyiSDK community forum, summit announcement #2889, biweekly report 078 #2891

No new topics appeared on the RuyiSDK forum during the window; the latest is still the 10-15 daily news post #2892, and biweekly report No. 078 and the summit announcement remain unchanged. Per the announcement, the 6th RISC-V China Summit runs from 10-18 to 10-20, with RuyiSDK showcasing its package manager, IDE, and development board support matrix among other solutions at booth D15, along with scheduled talks and posters; as of this window, the forum has no coverage or recap of the event, and no demo materials have been released.

5.3 Industry side: SpacemiT V100 server-class RISC-V processor unveiled at the summit (10-19)

Date: 2026-10-19 Source: Phoronix: SpacemiT V100

On 10-19, SpacemiT unveiled the server-class RISC-V processor V100 during the summit. According to Phoronix, the V100 uses a 46-core hybrid architecture—6 XiangShan Kunminghu V2R2 cores plus 40 SpacemiT X100 cores—clocked at 2.2 to 2.4GHz, built on a 12nm process with a 120W TDP, supporting eight-channel DDR5-4800 and 52 lanes of PCIe 5.0, reaching 92 cores in a dual-socket configuration; the vendor claims it is the first chip to fully comply with the RISC-V server specification, supporting UEFI, ACPI, and SMBIOS.

The significance for this topic lies in the platform form factor rather than the chip itself: the server specification makes UEFI/ACPI/SMBIOS mandatory, and the adaptation path for the system software stack differs from that of existing development boards and embedded platforms. The current ruyi 0.54.0 roadmap focuses on K1/K3 toolchain adaptation and ABI compatibility detection, with a support matrix centered on consumer and embedded boards; for a server platform to enter the support scope, new firmware, distribution, and image pipelines would be required. No public action by RuyiSDK or openRuyi regarding the V100 was observed that day.

5.4 External news: zero hits for targeted RuyiSDK / RuyiAI / openRuyi queries; summit coverage concentrated on the hardware side (10-19)

Date: 2026-10-19 Source: Google News RSS Chinese and English queries, arXiv cs.AR recent listing

Google News queries in Chinese and English for RuyiSDK, RuyiAI, and openRuyi (RuyiSDK when:3d, RuyiAI when:3d, openRuyi when:7d, RuyiSDK when:7d, Buddy Compiler MLIR when:7d) all returned zero hits, with the channel functioning normally; “Ruyi community RISC-V” returned 2 hits, namely a summit statement piece from Alibaba DAMO Academy and the 10-15 news of ArtCraft’s Ruyi Linglong edition listing, neither directly related to this topic. Chinese summit-related coverage is concentrated on the hardware and capital side (SpacemiT V100, large-scale RISC-V commercialization, etc.) and does not touch on specific RuyiSDK solutions. The arXiv cs.AR recent listing was updated through 10-19, with a few RISC-V title hits but no new preprints directly related to this stack’s compiler or vector optimization.

VI. Trend Observations

6.1 Distribution packaging strategy shifts toward dependency-based packaging: bulk Rust crate imports and Go de-vendoring advance in parallel

Of openRuyi’s 221 commits in a single day, about 200 are newly added packages, the vast majority of them Rust crates; PRs submitted the same day also switch minio and picoclaw from self-contained vendor archives to distribution-packaged dependencies. Both lines point to the same thing: the distribution’s unit of packaging is shifting from “upstream source tree” to “reusable dependency package,” which reduces duplicate packaging and lets CVE fixes ship per package (the concurrent CVE batch was indeed split and submitted by package). For a RISC-V distribution, maintenance cost lies mainly not in the primary packages but in the completeness of the dependency closure; this batch of commits is an effort to fill out that closure.

6.2 Three upstream fork maintenance lines diverge: PyTorch replays daily, LLVM silent for seven days, Triton nightly builds resume

PyTorch’s riscv branch keeps a daily replay (one at 10-19 09:14 in this window, a history rewrite with no new patches), with upstream main synced daily; LLVM’s riscv branch has had no pushes for seven days since 10-12, with two FPGA backend PRs stalled since 10-13; Triton’s nightly builds resumed on 10-19 after a seven-day hiatus. The three repositories represent three states of investment: one pipeline running, one awaiting review, one just resuming builds. Points to watch are whether the LLVM branch restarts on a new upstream baseline, and whether Triton nightlies return to a daily cadence.

6.3 Server-class platforms come into view: UEFI/ACPI/SMBIOS specification requirements change the system software adaptation path

SpacemiT’s V100 brings the RISC-V server specification to a concrete product, and the specification’s UEFI, ACPI, and SMBIOS become hard requirements. This differs from the current RuyiAI/RuyiSDK adaptation path targeting embedded and consumer platforms such as K1/K3: the latter centers on board images, toolchains, and support matrices, while the former requires end-to-end alignment of firmware, boot, and distribution installation chains. The openRuyi firmware line (ruyifirmware, edk2-ruyi) has gone quiet over the past two days; if server platforms become the next-stage target, the effort and priority of this line may need reassessment.
